BREAKING NEWS – DALLAS – In the fuselages of three aircrafts of the American airline company Southwest Airlines are cracks found that could cause holes in the fuselage during flights. (Source: DeTelegraaf)
The issue concerns the Southwest Airlines aircraft of the type Boeing 737 and a crack in the fuselage on a Southwest aircraf caused an emergency landing in Arizona on Friday the 1st of april. One passenger and one crewmember were slightly injured. Southwest Airlines informed the authorities about the problems with the Boeing 737 aircraft and all aircraft of this type are under investigation by the airline and manufacturer Boeing.
The chief operating officer of Southwest Airlines, Mike van de Ven, speaks about a new and unknown problem and ensured that Southwest is doing whatever necessary to guarantee the safety of passengers and crews.
In the roof of the fuselage of the Boeing 737 that made an emergency landing in Arizona appeared a big hole during the flight and the cabin pressure dropped immediately on which the pilots were forced to make an emergency landing. Southwest Airlines has cancelled hundreds of flights to allow inspections on the 136 similar aircraft of their fleet.
It is not the first time that safety is in danger at Southwest Airlines. A few years ago the airline was given a punishment fine because they did not perform the mandatory maintenance inspections on their aircraft. At that time no incidents were reported with Southwest Aircraft.
It is not clear when all 136 aircraft will be inspected and if similar cracks will be found in the fuselages and until then the passengers of Southwest Airlines have to be aware of cancellations of flights.
There are no reports from other airlines about cracks in the fuselages of Boeing 737 aircraft and this is not a sign of unsafe aircrafts from the manufacturer Boeing. As we all know Boeing is a very large manufacturer and they have sold a lot of aircraft. If you compare this to a manufacturer like Airbus, then you can see it in perspective. If you produce and sell more aircraft then your company has a bigger chance to come in the news when something is wrong.
